National Bourbon Heritage Month at State Fare

national bourbon heritage month state fare

As a whiskey bar, State Fare carries a variety of whiskeys, including bourbons perfect for celebrating National Bourbon Heritage Month.

In August 2007, the United States Senate declared September 2007 as National Bourbon Heritage Month. The United States government recognizes bourbon as a distinct American whiskey

“America’s Native Spirit”

Whiskey is a liquor made from fermented grain mash. The grains are aged in wood barrels that help give whiskey its flavor and color. Bourbon whiskey is sweeter than scotch whiskey. The name “bourbon” is believed to come from Bourbon Street in New Orleans or Bourbon County in Kentucky. For a whiskey to be considered Bourbon whiskey, it must be distilled in America and contain at least 51% corn. The whiskey also has to be aged in a charred, brand-new white oak barrel that has never been used. After that batch of bourbon, the barrel can only be used to age scotch.

Our Bourbon Selection

As a whiskey bar, State Fare carries a variety of whiskeys, including bourbons. If you are looking to feed expensive taste buds, consider getting our Yellowstone Select Bourbon from Lebanon, Kentucky. Our serves will be able to point you in the right direction depending on your budget and what you are looking for. Although bourbon is sweeter, there are distinct flavors to each brand of bourbon. Of course, we do offer some bourbon we consider trophies. Very expensive, but absolutely worth the price if you love top-shelf bourbon.

Some Food Pairing Suggestions

Foods with sweet, smoky, and slightly spicy flavors are excellent with bourbon. Food pairing allows your drink to develop a flavor that is next level. From our menu, the Chicken and Waffles would be perfect. Sweet and savory, a brunch classic, will serve you well if you are undecided. Slow-cooked food in a smoker like pulled pork or other classic barbecue foods are perfect partners to bourbon. Consider enjoying a smoky burger or steak from our menu with your American bourbon. Chocolate is a dessert that amplifies bourbon to the next level. Our triple chocolate mousse will sate your sweet tooth and bolster your bourbon.
