Coziest Winter Cocktail and Beer Options

The bitter snow may bite, but State Fare’s grub and cocktail choices can keep your palate pleased throughout every season.

While snowy days are still upon us, you can lace up your snow boots and head to State Fare for a few of our specialty winter cocktails and beer options to keep you warm and cozy all season long. Let our bartenders whip you up one of these classic winter beverages, place an order with us for lunch or dinner, and cozy up with your favorite local restaurant in Catonsville. The bitter snow may bite, but State Fare’s grub and drinks can keep your palate pleased throughout every season. Must be 21+ and older to enjoy alcoholic beverages.

Irish Coffee

The original Irish coffee was invented in 1942 after a plane of American passengers were delayed due to inclement weather conditions. To keep passengers warm, airport staff placed Irish whiskey in hot coffee. Original Irish coffee is made with Irish whiskey, but we like local favorites — specifically Stolen Rock and Rye from Columbia, MD. No original Irish coffee is complete without a sprinkling of sugar and a splash of heavy cream. You can request one of our bartenders to whip you up their own version of an Irish coffee at your own drinking discretion.

The Hot Toddy

The hot toddy is a classic cocktail throughout the winter season, particularly due to its throat soothing properties of antibacterial lemon mixed with sugar or honey and heated whiskey. A well-made hot toddy can help jumpstart your morning when you’re feeling achy in your bones due to frigid temperatures outside. To make a hot toddy, we like 2 ounces of Bulleit Rye or Basil Hayden’s placed into a mug filled with heated water, freshly squeezed lemon, and a drop of honey or sugar.

Duclaw’s Sweet Baby Jesus!

Duclaw’s Sweet Baby Jesus! is a perfectly comforting, local-to-Maryland favorite chocolate peanut butter porter that’s sure to please the palate. This jet-black porter is full body with a creamy, luxurious feel in your mouth. The lightly sweet taste of the chocolate peanut butter porter isn’t overwhelmingly sweet, but tastes like eating peanut butter chocolate in your childhood after a cold day of sledding in the snow. A 12oz can of Duclaw’s Sweet Baby Jesus! is only $8, which makes it an affordable yet comfortingly nostalgic beer.
